t's like a milestone in our history.............everything bagan...

hen we first discovered the house and it's 100+ years of history it was like being hit by lightning

The restoration work required seemed ambitious at best,
and we really were novices to the game !

............

............irst of all,

we had to empty the farm, as the old man who
was there before us, really hadn't been keen to.

He had moved to a little village
on the edge of the Camargue.

ut the house was just full of old things...

it this a treasure ! And we found it !!

One day when Pascal moved some beams, from among the dirt and the dust a small metal container appearead.
Puporting to be "Mustard powder", upon shaking, the little tin apparead to be empty.
Pascal opened it anyway and lo and behold, money fell out !

We have no idea of the value of this old money, and to be honest we don't care a great deal,
it was the symbolic, sentimental aspect which was of interest to us...

That and the thrill of comparing currency from before the second world war with its 1980's counterpart !

But the treasure hunt didn't stop there !

........It's realism was truly moving, touching because of
this unknown man who had left these precious memories
for someone, someday, to read.
In effect he says it himself «...it's a little job that I have
given myself, in order to preserve my memories and
to give account of my ideas and the main events of
a year long compaign...»

oday we feel we know the people
.....and their experiences in this home

hat had allowed us to feel truly at ease within these

walls, and to be able to welcome our guests and invite them to share the

relaxing atmosphere created by such memories of a forgotten past...
